The police had dragged Mr Midat Joseph of Leadership newspaper and one Yayock Eusebiuf to the court on a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, inciting disturbance and injurious falsehood.

A Delta state-based father of five, Austin Segun, has been banished from the Eruemukohwarien community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state after it was discovered that he tied his 13-year-old son, Tobi, to a burglar-proof for three days because a Church leader said the boy was a wizard. According to Vanguard, Tobi was rescued by members of the vigilante group in the community who heard him whimpering at about 2am.

12 inmates escaped from the Walker County Jail in Jasper, Alabama on Sunday evening, leading to a massive manhunt and the recapturing of eight of them, authorities said.
Walker County Jail officials said that 12 inmates escaped at around 9:30 p.m. local time. Authorities have not said how the inmates were able to escape the prison.

            A 27-year-old South African woman and 8 other women have been rescued from a suspected sex trafficking syndicate in Malaysia.
The women were rescued in a joint operation conducted by Interpol, the Malaysian Police, the Hawks and the South African Ministry of Police.
South African Police Minister, Fikile Mbalula, who disclosed this on Friday, said the woman was lured to Malaysia under the impression that she would take part in an internet modelling competition that attracted women from 14 countries “promising a great life with great prizes to be won”.

No fewer than 10 people were killed Sunday in Venezuela as troops cracked down on violent protests against elections to choose the members of a powerful assembly.
President Nicolas Maduro has tasked the Assembly with writing a new constitution.
Protesters attacked polling stations and barricaded streets around the country, drawing a bloody response from security forces, who opened fire with live ammunition in some cases.

The declaration on Sunday, came six years after the predominantly Christian south gained independence from the north.

Victim of the horrific fuel tanker accident in Kogi identified as Chinedu David Emeyazia

                                            
Chinedu David Emeyazia has been identified as one of the victims of the ghastly accident involving a fuel tanker and an 18-seater commercial bus said to belong to Delta Line.
The accident which occurred last Friday at Felele on the Abuja-Lokoja  Highway claimed at least 25 lives. Late Emeyazia, managed to jump out of the burning vehicle but however, later died from injuries sustained due to what his friends described as poor emergency response.
Until his tragic death, Mr Emeyazia, from Issele Mkitime, Delta State was the CEO of Dilon Global Services, Abuja.

22,000 fans evacuated after fire eruptes on stage at a music festival in Spain

                       

Over 22,000 fans were evacuated after a fire erupted on stage at the Tomorrowland music festival in Barcelona, Spain. No injuries were reported as attendees fled the concert area on Saturday night.
According to a post on the Tomorrowland website, the fire was caused by a technical malfunction, "at this time, the fire is totally extinct although very hot areas remain and the entire assembly structure is at risk of collapsing. Authorities will follow up and continue the investigation with the local Spanish organizer," the statement said.

Australian Police carried out counter-terrorism raids in four suburbs of Sydney on Saturday, July 29, over a suspected bomb plot to bring down an aircraft.
Four men were taken into custody in what was described as a "major" operation by the New South Wales Joint Counter Terrorism Team.
"These searches and the broader investigation remain ongoing, and further information will be made available at the appropriate time," the police said in a statement.
