Watch the anti-Muslim videos President Donald Trump retweeted which sparked outrage...

Earlier today, the President of the United States, Doanld Trump retweeted three anti-Muslim videos which people feel is a campaign to dehumanize Muslims.
Trump retweeted tthe videos from the deputy leader of Britain First, a British far-right group. He has been called out for the video by a lot of people, including his supporter Piers Morgan, but trust Mr Trump, he has refused to take down his tweets.
One of the videos purportedly shows a Muslim man beating a boy on crutches. Another shows a Muslim destroying the statue of Virgin Mary and the last purportedly shows a group of Muslims push a teenage boy off a roof and beat him to death. The authenticity of all videos are unverified at the moment.

Gurara Dam Pipeline : FG approves payment of N1.7 bn to contractor...

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday approved the payment of  N1.712 billion for the contractor handling the 75-kilometre Gurara Dam water pipeline project in Niger State.
The FEC meeting, which lasted for about four hours, was presided over by Vice-president Yemi Osinbajo.
While briefing State House correspondents after  the FEC meeting, the Minister of  Water Resources Mr Suleiman Adamu, said, the memo was complimentary to the earlier one he presented at the last FEC meeting on Nov.22.

The notorious Brazilian jail, Talavera Bruce, known for fights and riots, which is also the only maximum security women's jail in Rio de Janeiro, has held its annual beauty contest for the most dangerous female criminals.
On Wednesday, ten inmates swapped their prison uniforms for high heels and glamorous gowns including having their hair and make-up done to take part in the beauty pageant which is allowed once a year.

Robert Mugabe and his wife will receive a “golden handshake” worth many millions of dollars as part of a deal negotiated before the resignation of the ageing autocrat last week. The exact sums to be paid to the former president and his wife Grace are still unclear, though one senior ruling party official with direct knowledge of the agreement said the total would not be less than $10m.
The official said that Mugabe, who has been granted immunity from prosecution and a guarantee that no action will be taken against his family’s extensive business interests, would receive a “cash payment of $5m” immediately, with more paid in coming months.

Hundreds of worshippers killed in Egypt mosque attack

At least 235 people have been killed and scores more injured in a bomb and gun assault on a mosque in Egypt’s north Sinai, in the deadliest attack in the country in recent memory.
A bomb ripped through the mosque as Friday prayers were finishing, before militants in four off-road vehicles approached and opened fire on worshippers, a military source told the Guardian. Some witnesses said they had seen around 20 attackers.

Call for Nigeria’s restructuring re-echoes

Deputy President of the Senate, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu, says restructuring Nigeria is inevitable for all-inclusive advantages it will confer on federating units and enhancement of national unity.
Ekweremadu stated this at a two-day Retreat by Southern Senators Forum in Calabar on Friday, and dismissed the fear in certain quarters that restructuring would cause the break-up of the country.
He explained that restructuring was not the same as exclusive resource control as the renewed and aggressive search for oil around the Lake Chad, Sokoto and Benue River Basins in recent times appeared to suggest.

Army to set up new base in Kano deadly forest

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, on Friday, said a Forward Operation Base (FOB) would be set up in the once dreaded Falgore forest in Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State to address security challenges in the area.
The army chief announced this when he paid a visit to troops undergoing training in the forest, which once served as safe haven for banditry, cattle rustlers and kidnappers.
Buratai said that the forest would henceforth serve as one of the permanent training grounds for the soldiers.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo inaugurates cashew factory

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has inaugurated a Cashew Processing factory, FoodPro Nigeria Limited, in Ilorin.
Osinbajo also inspected the factory on Tuesday after the inauguration, was delighted with what he saw on ground.
The Vice President who was conducted round the factory by the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mr. Ayo Olajiga, restated administration’s resolve to continue to support the private sector with policies that would make life easier for them to do business.

Army arrests 7, recovers arms, human skulls

The Nigerian Army has arrested seven persons, including two females in a militant camp where arms and seven decomposed human skulls were recovered.
The army had raided the militant camp in Omoko, Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers state.
Col. Aminu Iliyasu, Spokesman of 6 Division in Port Harcourt told newsmen on Tuesday that some militants and their fleeing leader, Don Wanny, kidnapped and killed several innocent citizens in Rivers and Bayelsa states.

Lebanon’s Prime Minister Saad Hariri returns home this week

Lebanon’s Prime Minister Saad Hariri said he will return home  before Wednesday’s Independence Day celebrations and explain his situation.
Two weeks ago, his shock resignation announcement in Saudi Arabia had sparked political turmoil, with President Michel Aoun rejecting it and Hezbollah accusing Saudi Arabia of holding him hostage.
Speaking after talks in Paris on Saturday with French President Emmanuel Macron, who is seeking to broker a way out of the crisis, Hariri said he would “make known my position” once back in Beirut.

Anambra Speaker commends voters for peaceful polls..

The Speaker, Anambra House of Assembly, Mrs  Rita Maduagwu, has commended the  Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies for peaceful conduct of the Saturday’s gubernatorial election .
Maduagwu made the commendation in Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government area of the state,  on Saturday in an interview with newsmen.
The speaker, who said that the turn out of  electorate was impressive, commended voters for complying with all electoral laws during the electoral process in the area.

An Indian medical student, Manuchi Chhillar,  was crowned Miss World at a glitzy event in a Chinese resort on Saturday, making her  the 67th to be crowned in the history of the pageant.
Chhillar, 20, is the sixth Indian winner of the long-running contest, following in the footsteps of Bollywood actresses Priyanka Chopra and Aishwarya Rai.
Her win brings India level with Venezuela as the countries with most victories in the history of the pageant, now in its 67th edition.

PDP will accept anyone who emerges Chairman – Fayose

The eight contenders for the National Chairmanship of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have agreed to work with any of them elected at the party’s National Convention on Dec. 9.
Chairman of PDP Governors Forum, Gov. Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti, made the disclosure at a news briefing in the early hours of Monday after a five and half hour closed door meeting in Enugu.
Fayose said that the governors met to deliberate on the forthcoming national convention and discussed with the chairmanship aspirants.

IPOB declares 21-days mourning in honour of members allegedly killed by Nigerian army during raid at Nnamdi Kanu

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has declared 21 days mourning for its members allegedly killed during the military invasion of the home of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu at Afara Ukwu, Umuahia, Abia State.

The Biafra agitation group also says it has discovered more corpses of her slain members in a bush within the precincts of the home of its leader, SunNewsOnline reports. The group also informed that it is burying the slain members, numbering more than over 28 who were killed during the invasion, in piecemeal with 11 of such bodies already interred.

Two women and four men were on Tuesday land in court for beating DPO

Two women and four men were on Tuesday arraigned in an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly battering a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) who was on his way to perform his official duty.
The accused, who are all residing at Ikorodu, near Lagos are: Kehinde Alimot, 40; Bukola Ahmed, 32; Ifeanyi Kanu, 22; Owolabi Ibrahim, 39; Aikulola Olamiji, 54, and Jamiu Yussuf, 39.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the accused people were arraigned before Magistrate A.B. Adelabu-Olagbegi on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, unlawful assault and causing a breach of peace.

Buhari presents N8.61trn budget for 2018

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday presented a budget of N8.61 trillion for the 2018 fiscal year.
The budget is 16 per cent higher than that of 2017.
Buhari presented the budget before the joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives.
The 2018 budget is based on crude oil benchmark of US$45 per barrel with estimated daily production of 2.3 million barrels.
The President also said that the budget was based on exchange rate of N305 to one dollar.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Interior, Sen. Andy Uba, says Nigeria has lost over N6 trillion worth of goods to fire disasters in the past five years.
Uba made the disclosure at the International Fire Conference and Exhibition, organised by the Senate and House of Representatives Joint Committee on Interior, held on Tuesday in Abuja.
According to him, nationally, direct and indirect reported and unreported losses to the economy have been put conservatively at about N6 trillion.

Boko Haram insurgents attack Gulak

Reports say that suspected Boko Haram sect members have engaged the Nigerian army in Gulak town, the Headquarters of Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa.
The insurgents were said to have attacked the town on Monday evening.
Alhaji Yusuf Muhammed, the Madagali LGA Council Chairman, confirmed to News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) in Yola that Gulak town was under heavy attack.

Trump’s visit to South Korea threatened

Hundreds of people have gathered in the center of Seoul to protest against U.S. President Donald Trump’s two-day visit to the country, local media reported on Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, Trump landed at the Osan Air Base in South Korea’s city of Pyeongtaek and headed to the U.S.  Army Camp Humphreys garrison, where he was welcomed by the Army Camp Humphreys garrison.
After the visit to South Korea, the U.S. president will travel to China and Vietnam, where he will join the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum, and will finish his journey in the Philippines from Nov. 12 to Nov. 14.

NAF destroys oil barges of stolen oil products

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says it has successfully destroyed some oil barges containing stolen oil products at Adokiakiri community in the Niger Delta.
The Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Olatokunbo Adesanya, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

Akwa Ibom: Akpabio, Bassey join Udom’s cabinet

The Akwa Ibom House of Assembly at plenary on Friday confirmed two nominees for the position of commissioners in the state executive council.
Those confirmed were Mr Ibanga Akpabio from Essien Udim Local Government Area and Prof. Victor Bassey from Oruk Anam Local Government Area.
The House also ratified the appointment of Mr Umana Sam Umana as Chairman, State Secondary Education Board.

Soyinka goes to Trump’s America

Professor Wole Soyinka is going back to  Donald Trump’s America, less than a year after he tore his Green Card following the election of Donald Trump as the president.
He will be delivering from 14-16  November  the Richard D. Cohen Lectures at Harvard University Centre for African Studies.
“I’ll go in as an alien, an alien from outer space. I love that designation,” Soyinka said in an interview with Financial Times of London published on Friday.
The lectures will be in three parts, under the theme: BEYOND AESTHETICS: Use, Abuse and Dissonance in African Art Traditions
The first part, The Acquisitive Eye: “Oga, I swear it’s Original Fake”will be delivered on 14 November.

Nigerian prisoners want to leave China - World news

Many prisoners have inundated Nigeria, asking to be transferred from Chinese prisons, but such transfers are impossible for now.
Transfer of prisoners from China to Nigeria can only be possible if there is a signed treaty to the effect by the two countries.
There is no treaty between the countries for prisoners’ transfer, when that exists the transfer of prisoners would be possible, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Mrs Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has said.

Nigerian scholars abroad owed N2.4b, Saraki intervenes

The Director in charge of Scholarship at the Federal Scholarship Board (FSB) said N2.4 Billion is owed Nigerian scholars abroad by the Board due to inadequate or lack of budgetary provisions.
Fatima Ahmad said there was an outstanding scholarship allowance to the tune of N799.8 million, in 2015 and 2016, out of which Ñ444.2 million has been paid, leaving a balance of Ñ355.6million.
Ahmad made the disclosure at a special meeting held between the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and representatives of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) responsible for the welfare of Nigerian Students on scholarships abroad.
